New Third-Party Food Delivery Service Laws As of January 24, 2022, Third party delivery apps will require a license to operate in NYC. Restaurants will now have greater protections when they interact with Delivery Apps. But restaurants also have a few new requirements they need to follow; the changes include:
- Caps on fees that Delivery Apps can charge restaurants
- Requirement that Delivery Apps list your direct telephone number
- No unauthorized listings on Delivery Apps without a written agreement
- Request certain customer data from Delivery Apps unless the customer opts out
- Bathroom Access for Delivery Workers
- Starting January 24, 2022, any written agreement you enter into with a Delivery App must contain a provision allowing delivery workers access to your bathroom, with limited exceptions for health and safety reasons.
As an NYC restaurant, the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) wants you to know how these new laws might affect you. For copies of the Laws and Rules, please visit nyc.gov/DeliveryApps. For a summary, read this email.

Illegal Dumping Reward Program It is illegal to dispose of home and/or business garbage in a public trash bin — this includes our Big Bellies and corner bins in our district. If waste is coming from a vehicle, fines for the owner of the vehicle range from $1,500 to $20,000. In instances where the owner and the operator are different, the maximum fine can go up to $40,000. DSNY has a reward program where individuals who report on illegal dumping can earn up to 50% of the amount collected as a reward. Click HERE to read more. Individuals disposing of home and/ or business garbage in public trash bins can also be fined if the waste is NOT coming from a vehicle (this is called “improper disposal,” and is also illegal).
