another successful Blood Drive
On May 20th, 2010, the North Flatbush Avenue Avenue BID reached out to the Park Slope and Prospect Heights community for blood donations! The BID was informed by the New York Blood Center, that the Brooklyn region was in desperate need of blood supplies to our local hospitals.
With the help of New York Blood Center, Crunch and Kings Pharmacy we set up a Mobile Bus Unit in front of Crunch, located at 330 Flatbush Avenue . Kings Pharmacy also set up their Monthly Health Fair and educated the public on topics such as tension and sinus headaches and seasonal allergies. The BID, Crunch, Kings Pharmacy, Hooti Couture and Brooklyn Boulders were generous contributors to our complimentary tote bags which were given out to blood donors.
It was a successful day as we reached our goal of 30 donors! The New York Blood Center calculates 25 donors in a 6 hour period as a successful drive. The BID would like to thank each and every one of our donors for rolling up your sleeves and taking the time to donate blood. Giving Blood is giving the Gift of Life. The BID would also like to thank all the volunteers who came out to support us and who helped with the drive. We couldn’t have done it without you. Sharon Davidson, Executive Director of the BID would like to especially thank, Henri Williams, Membership Manager of Crunch and Renita Rembarat of Kings Pharmacy, Alison Houtte of Hooti Couture and Lance Pinn of Brooklyn Boulders for all their time, good energy and generous contributions in helping put this drive together. It was a great team effort!!
