The BID turns 25 years old!

Commissioner Robert Walsh from NYC dept of small business presents Regina Cahill with a Proclamation from Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
A little over 35 years ago, a small group of concerned citizens joined together to form the Triangle Parks Commission which eventually gave way to the Flatbush Avenue Betterment Commity. In 1986, the North Flatbush Avenue Avenue BID was signed into NYS Legislation, 25 years ago!
On May 25th, the BID celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a special event at Burrito Bar! Hon. Robert Walsh, Department of Small Business Services, presented the North Flatbush Avenue Avenue BID with a Proclamation for the office of NYC Mayor Bloomberg. Other awards included a Proclamation from Borough President Marty Markowitz, a Proclamation from Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke and a Citation from the office of Assembly woman Joan Millman.
Many of the original group who formed the BID 25 years ago were present at the celebration and they too were presented with Citations from Council Member Letitia James, and President Regina Cahill was presented with a Proclamation for her 25 years of committment to the BID as President and a 35 year resident of Flatbush Avenue!!
The BID has so much planned for Fiscal Year 2012, and we are very excited about our new Capital Streetscape Project for a new Flatbush Avenue! To view more photos from this event, check out our Picassa webphotos page HERE.
